When I open the window containing all my file names, some of the names are in the color blue and some in the color black. Why is this? It has bothered me for ages!! Thanks.

The blue ones are compressed. You presumably have Windows set to compress
files of a certain age.

Yes, thank you Suzanne. Just before reading your reply I also found the answer. For those who may need to know, go to "control panel," then "folder options," then "view." Scroll down towards the bottom and you will see something like "show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color." This option can be checked or unchecked. What is going on here is that files that are rarely accessed are compressed to save room. If the option is checked, those file names will be in the color blue. Ta Da!!!
