RE: Explorer Notes 2.0. Is this the same prog as described at PCMag?
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,4149,3871,00.asp
"Have you ever looked at a long list of files in your Documents folder
and despaired of ever finding the one you wanted? Are you outsmarting
yourself with clever, cryptic filenames or wearing out your fingers
with long filenames that don't tell you what you need to know? Explorer
Notes 2.0 solves these problems by letting you associate a note of up
to 255 characters with any file or folder. Explorer Notes 1.0
(introduced in PC Magazine, November 5, 1996) worked only under Windows
95 and was incompatible with Internet Explorer 4. Version 2.0
peacefully coexists with IE4 and Windows 98, and it adds support for
Windows NT 4 and the current beta release of Windows NT 5. If you
created notes with Version 1.0, you can import them into Version 2.0."
Note: PC Mag site: "The file you have selected to download is only
available by subscription or single purchase from PCMag.com." [ie, $].
Not sure, but don't think you can download without paying. [I have an
account there, so can't be certain if this is still true for
non-payers.]
I *think* this is the same program, no registration required to
download:
http://ftp.actrix.co.nz/windows/win32/desktop/EE20.ZIP
Anyway, is this the same program you're talking about? It *appears* to
be free, but I haven't installed it yet.
To Richard and others: have you looked at 4DOS, now freeware?
There was some discussion a while back in a.c.freeware on file
description / comment adders. You could try groups.google.com for this.
