File locking?

I keep a backup of My Documents by copying it to a DVD once a week. Lately
the copy process has failed when it tries to copy outlook.pst. The message
says that the file cannot be copied because a portion of the file has been
locked by another process. This happens even when I try the copy immediately
after rebooting and before running Outlook. How can I fix this?

If you run any fax/handheld sync/etc software that runs in startup it may
keep Outlook open in the background. Make sure outlook.exe isn't listed in
the processes running in Task Manager.
