File List in FrontPage Save As

I have users using Frontpage to author web pages. When
they are authoring and Choose, File, Save As, it does not
show any files or folders in the Save As window. Does
anyone know how to correct this?

Thanks in advance!

I posted the same problem yesterday (no reply). I think
this started when we did an automatic update from Windows
Update. I forgot to restart the server and did the
restart today. For most users the files and folders now
appear. I do have some that still can not see the files
or folders in a save as window or open window. There
must be someone out there that knows what is going on!

make sure you choose the folder you want to save in.

Perhaps there are no previously saved files in the folder?

I cannot believe that no one has posted anything about
this yet. This is a serious problem. Nothing posted in
MS support or knowledgebase either.

In FP 2003: When you go to FILE - Save As - to save an
existing page into an existing folder FP does not show
any files in the pop-up window (which is supposed to show
the tree view of all files in your web). Instead it
defaults to the My Document folder on the local hard
drive. A pop up error message appears to tell you that
FP is unable to locate the network.

I have tried this on several different web sites and it
cannot do the Save As function. I know this problem was
happening in the Beta version but I thought it would have
been resolved by the full release.

I am not seeing the problem with FP2003 under Windows XP Pro with a web
located at http://localhost.

Make sure you have a site open and not just a page.

I have no problems in FP2003 (RTM) using File Save as in either an existing web or as a new page or page opened from anywhere.
Sounds like you have a problem somewhere in your FP2003 setup, or OS, or local permissions
Did you uninstall the BETA and do a full install of FP2003
Have you installed all IE and OS updates & patches
Have you cleaned out all your TEMP files and IE cache

I have this problem in FrontPage 2002, and it applies to
both Save As and Insert Picture. I can see the folders and
files in the Folder List. I can drag images from there to
the page. However, if I try to use Insert Picture, the box
pops up but no files or folders appear. Same if I try to
use Save As. I, too, can't believe there is no KB article
about this. What is it??!!

I have seen this with FP2002 on WinXP Pro, IIS5.1, all service packs and
updates applied.
The work-around I used was to go up a folder level (using the icon in the
dialogue). This caused the files/folders to show. Then move into the
desired folder, which then showed all files/folders in the dialogue window.
Strangely, it was only the root web of the subweb I was working on that was
affected.

I do not know the cause, but the work-around always worked.

Thanks for the suggestion. It doesn't work for me,
however. If I go up a folder level I'm in "Network
Places", then if I choose the web again, still no folders
or files show.

Hope someone can solve this . . . it seems like a pretty
basic issue!

Barbara,

Try this:
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
3) In Windows Explorer Find and delete the file CMDUI.PRF
4) Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins
5) Run a Repair / Reinstall on FP & IE

(Thanks to Stefan B. Rusynko for the steps.)
