I am switching all my old OpenOffice.org files over to Microsoft Office. I
was able to succsefully save them but now I want to switch the icon for all
those files to the Microsoft Office icon instead of the Open Office sign....
I know there's a way to do it, I just can't remember how.... I also selected
for all the files to be defaulted to open with Office so that step is done,
but it did not change the icon so..... any ideas?

Hi,

Folder Options/File types tab, select the file type, then advanced to get
the option to change the icons.

MS Office cannot open files.

Individual applications within Office open files.

You must associate each type of file with the application.

*.XLS files open with Excel.

*.DOC files open with Word

*.MDB files open with Access

etc. etc.

When you associate the file extensions with the correct application, the Icons
will change to that application's Icon.
