Hi I'm having problems installing Windows XP on my
machine, everything goes fine until I reach the point
where, in the install it copies the installation files on
the HD...I keep having file copy error, where some files
cannot be copied on the HD. I've swaped cdrom drive, just
to make shure I didn't have a defective cdrom
drive...still having the same problem...I've also tried to
install XP english and french...so 2 different cdroms and
still have a file copy error...but now I don't know what
to do? Has someone had any problem like this?

Examine the Windows XP CD and make sure it is absolutely "pristine clean"
with no scratches, fingerprints or smudges. Use a mild non-ammonia based
household cleaning solution and a soft cloth to clean it. Then try installing
again. If you still have a problem, use the following procedure to copy
the Windows XP CD to your hard drive:

I had the same problem, kept on telling me it couldn't copy the file, figured there was something wrong with the CDROM. Wrong! The problem was with my hard drive. It's telling me it can't write the file to my hard drive 'cos it has errors on the drive. Try the install again, but this time choose the full format of the hard drive which will identify bad sectors and exclude them prior to XP install subsequently copying the files. It worked for me.
