File Conversion error in word document?

Dear Sir,
i'm using office xp in windows 2000 server operating system and i have NTFS
file system when i try to open word document the word application give error
"File Conversion Error " i have more than 400 Very Important word document
all these give same errors . When i make new document it's opening fine . So
please help me it's very important document for me . Guide me wht i do for
solve this issue.

You should ask this in the word.conversions newsgroup. Be sure to mention in
which version of Word (or what other program) these documents were originally
written.
