One of my applications crashed and now I cannot delete or copy one of its
files. Even after reboot, same problem. File/Properties screen shows the
basic file settings unchecked.

Is some other bit set on this file which Windows reads as still open? What
is set in this file for Windows to think it is still open?

Yes there is another "secret" bit set, but if we told you which one
we would have to kill you.

No but seriously how about some proper info , what app crashed, what
file, error mgs etc would realy help

Unlock may help. (Google it, sorry, I don't have the url handy.)

I have several programs. One is DacEasy accounting version 9.0. It has some
flaws such as changing to an HP 4M Plus printer or using long file names for
storing reports. Both of these crash the program. Then restarting gives me
an error that only one person is allowed to use the program at one time.
This is caused by a file somewhere in DacEasy that is held open.

I usually reinstall DacEasy then point to my original data.

I don't recall any other programs at the moment. If I think of any, I'll let
you know.

Thanks everyone for your help.

One more thing I noticed when deleting folders. If a subfolder is more than
two levels lower, I get the same kind of error, "File is in use, cannot
delete or copy"
