File Associations

I would like to change file associations remotely and I have not having much
luck. The idea is to de-associate .gif's from PhoteEditor back to Windows
Picture and Fax viewer. I've tried ftype and assoc and everything looks to
be setup correctly, and I have tried maulay editing registry entires.
Nothing seems to work consistently, and ideas would be very helpful.

That is rather a special: Start - Run and run the line
regsvr32 shimgvw.dll
