Andy

I installed another drive. I can't associate .asm files with
qeditor.exe which is only on the added drive.
I tried associating the same type of file with another program on the
drive and it does associate but says it can't find the file when I try
to open one.

Thanks.

Please post the exact association you have for .asm files.

Name Type Data

For notepad association Default RegSz asm_auto_file
For thegun.exe " " " "
(The file opens with the second one, but say's it can't find the file)

I do not understand your reply. What command did you run to
obtain it? Have you tried assoc.exe? You can also play with ftype.exe.

Yes. I don't understand it either. Perhaps Andy could use FileExtInfo tool to generate the association information for .ASM files.

FileExtInfo - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/fileextinfo.htm

You're welcome, and thanks for the update.

Thanks, the FileExtInfo did the trick. The registry had .asm pointing
to several different things.
I just deleted them all and redid the association.
