fax sound

The past few days while I am connected to my broadband and
my computer is on a fax sound comes through my computer
when I am receving a fax on another dedicated line for the
fax machine and the fax will not come through the fax
machine.

Any help as to what is going on. I have to turn off my
computer to recieve the fax on my fax machine which is
totally separate from my broadband.

Are you using DSL?
Have you inserted the filters in your phone line ??
