If I can't fax from DSL, how can I? What do I have to do
different? Do I need a new something? Please advise!

Thank You,

DSL IS broadband. It does NOT use a standard phone line
modem. You can not
fax through it!

Although DSL uses telephone lines, the signals produced by a "DSL modem"
are not the same as those produced by a data or fax modem. Depending on
your telephone company, you may be able to use the same physical wires
for both DSL and voice/fax modem. [My phone company, for example, does
not permit this -- I have one wire that's only DSL and another that's
only phone.] You will need two pieces of hardware: a filter (to
separate the DSL signals from the voice/data signals) and an old-style
data/fax modem. You'll also (probably) need a splitter (or Y-connector)
so that you can have two things connected to the same outlet box.

Ask your DSL provider if this is possible, and if so, they will probably
give you the filters. You can buy a splitter at Radio Shack or the like
for a few dollars.
