Is there a way to get Windows Fax Services and OLE 6.0 to share the same
address book?

address book?

Once you install Outlook, the Outlook Address Book replaces the Windows
Address Book.

"The Windows XP Fax service uses the Windows Address Book (WAB) as its
default address book for fax numbers. When you install Outlook [OL] 2000 or
Outlook 2002, the fax service switches to the Outlook Address Book (OAB) as
its source for fax addresses. So you don't need to maintain two address
books-just one will do."
Queries:
1. Is Outlook Express (OE) your default Mail Client at IE Tools>Internet
Options>Programs?
2. Is OL or MS Office also installed?
3. What contacts database does your WinXP Fax service attempt to use?

PA Bear said:As
http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/expertzone/columns/crawford/02october21.asp
points out, WinXP Fax service (now) wants to use OAB as its contacts
database. Unless a Fax MVP [Hello?] knows of a way to change this back to
WAB, you can share (Windows) Address Book contacts with OAB via a Registry
hack, which I suppose would make these contacts available for Fax.
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/wab.htm#share
http://www.slipstick.com/contacts/oeshare.htm
Note that any/all changes (additions, deletions, edits) made while sharing
is enabled will /not/ be available (displayed) in (Windows)Address Book if
and when sharing is disabled. Your (Windows) Address Book Groups and
Folders may not appear correctly even when sharing is enabled. YMMV.
