Favorites in IE have disappeared and can't save new ones

DZR

one day, all of my "Favorites" disappeared and my links
alphabetized. They can't be switched around. Whatever
links i add, when i reopen the browser, they are
alphabetized.

The Favorites disappeared and I can no longer add to
favorites.

I've run every spyware program out there. Nothing. I've
reinstalled ie 6.0 with no success.

Anybody got a clue on this one?

Open Registry Editor and navigate to:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]
-and-
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]

In the right-pane, note down the valud assigned for Favorites. Post the info here.

In User Shell Folders I have the following:

REG_SZ %userprofile%\Favorites

Shell folders is empty.

How is that accomplished?

and not REG_SZ.

So, delete the existing one create a new REG_EXPAND_SZ with the above data.

Right-click new "Expandable String value", and not a multi-string.
