favorites icons

when i add a favorite some websites have personalized
icons which show in my favorites bar. however when i close
ie and run at a later time the personalized icons are
gone. i am running xp pro.
 
You're referring to Favicons, which are not native to Internet Explorer. You
need a 3rd party utility in order to maintain these in your system. Do a Google
search for "FavOrg". It used to be freeware utility from PC Mag, but now
requires a yearly subscription to download from them. You should find it
available from a few other sources.
