..URL extension is absolutely normal. The file association might be the
problem.
Open IE [Tools] [nternet Options] [Programs] [Reset Web Settings]
Also, enable "Internet Explore should check to see.............." option.
If this does not help, you may need to apply the .url association fix.

I started I.E. 6 as usual but all my favorites are changed
to end in .url and will not work. What Happened? and how
do I changed them back? Thank you.
