Fully agreed.
Jedit and Syn editor

Eclipse for Java development is also one of the top-notch open
source apps these days.

I'm a Miranda guy :-)

Add Inkscape, POV-Ray and Dia and I fully agree.
Keynote and Oubliette

Keynote rocks! There's hasn't been any news on 2.0 development for
a looong time now, I really really hope that things work out soon.

I personally use Python and PHP, plus some Cygwin bash scripting
for the straightforward tasks.

Some more additions that happen to be on my computer:

Apache
MySQL
R, in combination with SciViews-R or JGR
Subversion and TortoiseSVN for version control
WinMerge for file/folder comparison
MiKTeX (a TeX/LaTeX distribution for Windows)
XChat (IRC client)

Wald

I don't use very many at the moment. I have Open Office which I have used
before but it is not installed at the moment. I found it a bit
temperamental. But if I could fix the problems it would be very good.
I use Filezilla for FTP to my website.
Just started using Firefox but I am still in favour of IE6 over that. I
tried Thunderbird for email and news but I could not get it to thread the
way I wanted it to and it was a battle of wits between me and the program.
Got fed up and ditched it.
I really do not use many programs. My main computer activities are
newsgroups, net browsing and dealing with photos from my camera so not
really had use for many programs.

What are you doing on a newsgroup for "programs" junkies :-p

I was looking for a couple of freeware apps and decided to lurk for a while
;-)
I come and go maybe once every 3-4 months.

I'd use miranda if i knew how to log in with many screennames at once.
Can I do that?

Right-click on the icon in the system tray, and select "online"

Enjoy :)

Huh? it's already online; I want to connect with more than one
screenname on the same protocol, such as more than one AIM screenname
at the same time.

Can I do that with miranda? how?

With GAIM it's so easy

The GIMP
Firefox
Bochs
UltraVNC
QEMU
GVim
Wget from http://gnuwin32.sf.net
gnuplot
Wings 3D
Inkscape
gEDA

I don't use any of the "multi-protocol" IM clients since I use only MSN and
ICQ really, and AFAIK none of the client supports webcam chat.

And I wish I found a free replacement for WinISO and WinImage...
