When I used the command -- "Convert C: /fs:ntsf" I get
the following message (CONVERSION FROM FAT32 VOLUME TO
NTSF VOLUME IS NOT AVAIABLE). Can someone tell me what
can I do to change my volume to NTSF other then a full
format, also as a point of information I did upgrade from
Win 98 2nd to Win XP Home.

Thanks Joe

Hey Joe, if you want to spend some money, you can get
Partition Magic 8.0. I have used this to configure my
Hard drive, create multiple partitions, etc... and it
also has the ability to convert to NTFS with out the loss
of data. When you do convert, it's likely that you would
end up with 512byte clusters unless your hard disk is
aligned to 4K clusters. Wtih 512byte clusters, you would
probly have a decrease in the performance of the disk due
to high fragmentation. However, using partition magic,
it can convert your cluster sizes to 4K, so you will have
good disk performance, and not so much fragmentation.

I have been very happy with Partiton Magic 8.0. If you
want to spend the money, give it a try. I think a demo
might be available. It won't make any changes to your
drive, but it will allow you to surf the menus and see
what it does.

Hope this helps

Part of your problem is that there is no file system in XP known as
NTSF.

Did you try the actual file system - NTFS?
(command would be: convert c: /fs:ntfs)
