Just wondering if there was a faster way than
using the Transfer Wizard via serial ports.

Thanks.

There are several choices. Here are a few ways:

1. E-mail the data from the old machine and read it on the new one.

2. Network the two machines and transfer the data over the network.

3. Remove the drive from the old computer and install it temporarily (or
even pemanently) in the new computer.

4. Use floppies and span the larger files over several diskettes using a
file splitting program (or any standard zip utility, which can also do
this).

5. Copy the files to CDs

6. Copy the files to a USB thumb drive.

Which of these is best for you depends on several things: how much data you
have to transfer, whether you plan to keep the old computer, whether you are
willing to spend a few dollars for a thumb drive if you don't have one, etc.

Don't know if you're aware of it, but if you own a digital camera, you can
use whatever media it uses, to transfer files from one computer to another,
assuming you also have the card reader.

You can even use the camera itself as the card reader, and just connect it
to each computer with a USB cable.

I take it all these are faster, but you didn't say.
Of those mentioned, which would MOST LIKELY be
the fastest and least complicated? The network option
or the thumb drive? No problem with money for a 1GB
t-drive, but I also have a 20GB ext. hard drive.
Thanks so much for your help!

P.S. The files are on an IBM Aptiva, used exclusively
in a small office.

Use the 20GB ext. hard drive.
