I need to transfer the files and settings from a former ATA boot drive
to a new Dell with an SATA boot drive. The old computer is toast, and
I have only the old drive. It will be installed as the D drive in the
new computer.

Can I use the FAST wizard for this situation, and just point to the
old drive for the transfer? Would this be a copy "from old computer"
or a copy "to new computer" or both? Any gottcha's?

FAST won't work for this. You have to be logged on as the user you want to
copy data from to use FAST. You'll have to install the drive as a secondary
drive and copy the data manually.

Thanks Kerry. How about just the files and settings for Outlook
Express. Can I use the import function in OE to bring the address
book, settings and messages over to OE on the new drive?

Yes that works well. Sometimes depending on the version of Windows, how many
users, and if Windows or OE have been upgraded from older versions it is
hard to find the right files. Serach for *.dbx and *.wab on the old hard
drive. The ones with the newest dates should be the ones you want if you
were the last person to use the old computer.
