Failure to run DC PROMO

I have just reinstalled W2K on a client's Dell Poweredge 2650, and I have been repeatedly confronted with the same error message as I try to promote this Server to the first DC in a new domain in a new forest etc...
The message I get is the following:
THE OPERATION FAILED WITH THE FOLLOWING ERROR:
THE NETWORK LOCATION CANNOT BE REACHED. FOR INFORMATION ABOUT NETWORK TROUBLESHOOTING SEE WINDOWS HELP.

And that'a it.
How does this message appear when I am promoting the first DC in a new Domain?
I have done this many times before, especially after reloading the OS, and have never encountered this error message.
Can someone please help me get beyond this stumbling block.
My client fully expects his network to be up and running on Monday...
Thank you in advance

Hello. Have a look at TCP/IP DNS Settings and ensure the first DNS Server is
the server it self. also ensure its connected to the network with correct IP
information.

You may get that error if the network card is not plugged into a hub. See
