I hope someone is up for this challenge. I have been on phone with a
couple help desks, but to no avial.
I have a WinXP Home desktop with a Linksys Wireless adapter. On reboot,
everything works great and have unfettered network/internet access
through Netgear access point/hub.
HOWEVER, if I try to Repair the connection, DHCP fails to renew IP
address and connection is lost. Every few days the connection is lost
and when it tries to automatically reconnect, it has "Limited or No
Connection". Then my wife screams, "Honey, the computer won't dial-up
again!". (I've repeated explained we have always-on cable access, but
it doesn't seem to sink in
My own laptop (also WinXP Home) works fine through the same access
point. I have checked every setting I can think of on desktop, but
nothing seems to work. I even thought the problem was the previous SMC
wireless card and replaced it, but brand new one has same problem, so I
am pretty sure it is something in Windows that I am missing.
I really think all the normal network settings are correct since they
match my working laptop. My guess is there is some obscure driver that
is missing or corrupt.
Can anyone suggest anything to help???
Thanks...Todd
