extracting old mails

hai !
can anyone provide information on "how to export
messages" from outlook or outlook express; not from one
program to another, but on an extraction file that may be
loaded onto another program running on a different
computer?
this is possible with the address lists... and contacts,
but apparently not with the messges? where are these
messages stored?

That depends on the other application. You can see the formats Outlook or
Outlook Express can use for exporting using File>Import and Export for the
former and File>Export for the latter. Choose a format the other app you're
considering can import.
this is possible with the address lists... and contacts,
but apparently not with the messges?

It's as possible with the messages as it is with the other folders.
where are these messages stored?

The same place the Contacts are stored: in your PST or on an Exchange
server.
