Extract a flash file

I received a presentation that has a flash file embedded in one of the
slides. How do I extract that?
 
It can't be embedded. it has to be linked. The file should be in the same folder
as your presentation.

I received a presentation that has a flash file embedded in one of the

Actually, I received this as a pps [Presentation] in a mail. I just saved
that as a ppt thinking that I could extract the flash from it. But I couldnt
devise a way.
 
Flash (SWF) files can be embedded into PPT files using an Active X control.
If you do indeed have an embedded SWF in the PPT file, you *might* be able
to extract it by using PPT's File/Save as HTML or File/Save As Web Page. The
result will be a folder full of files from your PPT file. The SWF may be in
there somewhere.

That's what I'd try, anyway.

The movie is embedded within the activex control and not PowerPoint. I don't
think saving the file as a web page will help in this case. I haven't come
across any approach to retrieve a movie within an embedded flash movie
control.
 
Exactly Shyam! I tried saving the PPT as a web page, but I just got a gif and
not the actual swf. As of now, I managed to get the flash file from some
other source. Thanks anyway!

Thanks for confirming this, Shyam. I *thought* that was the case, but I
wasn't positive.
