Extra Processes in Task Manager

Hi
One user on an XP Home system has multi svchost.exe:
1 with user LOCAL SERVICE
1 with NETWORK SERVICE
3 with SYSTEM (these are BIG)

I have killed as many services as possible in msconfig

Is this a virus or ??

As long as they are svchost.exe and not a similar
but different name, (for example, svchosts.exe)
this is normal operation.
They are the parent tasks that run XP's mostly
behind the scenes services.

For a list of the services and to see those that
are active, type services.msc in the RUN box.
