external laptop usb hard disk hangs

Hi There,

Is there any to check my external usb, It used to work well but now not
working. i checked with other system too, it is not working there as well.
It hangs up the computer. I've to restart the computer on both sytstems.

i have had a simular issue like yours. If it is an older usb drive . I took
my out of its case and hooked it up to the computer and ran defrag on it
through a different system put it back to gether and wala it works now. Hope
this helps you
