External hard drive

XP will not recognize the Maxtor external hard drive. It
should be g: but it does'nt show up there. It is listed
under hardware. Please Help
 
Hi Linda,

Right Click on my computer->Manage->Disk Management->This utility will show
you what hard drives are there and let you modify them or assign different
drive letters. If it's a new, unformatted hard drive, you will need to
create a partition within this utility (It will format it for you too..)
