external hard drive

how do i change the drive letter on my external. When booting up i always
want my external to be drive e.

Click Start / Run / diskmgmt.msc {OK}, then right-
click the external drive and change its drive letter.
 
I'm no ubergeek but here's my thoughts.

Control panel>administrative tools>computermanagement>storage>disc management

Your external should be listed as one of the drives when it's plugged in and
recognized. Right click on it in the bottom panel to change/assign a
permanent drive letter. Hope that works/helps for you!
