Upon executing Outlook 2003, the following error message displays: "Can't
open file: extend.dat. The file may not exist, you may not have permission
to open it, or it may be open in another program. Right click the folder
that contains the file, and then click Properties to check your permissions
for the folder. You don't have appropriate permissions to perform this
operation."

I've searched for this file on my hard drive and I can't find it. Has
anybody seen this error before and know what is causing it?

This error started to occur after I upgraded to SP2.

Do a search for the file and rename it, a new one will be created the next
time you open Outlook

Cheers

I did a search and the file does not exist. The error message indicates
that the file may not exist. Any other suggestions?

Created a new Outlook profile. Didn't resolve the problem. Error message
continues to display upon launching of Outlook. Program still functions.
It's just a little annoying getting this errror message each morning.

C:\Documents and Settings\<username you log into when loading windows>\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Cheers
