extend.dat errorr message

When I open outlook, I keep getting this message that says
words to the effect, "can not open extend.dat.

I can't find a file extend.dat. How do I go about fixing
this problem.

By default you can find extend.dat here;
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Close Outlook.
Find extend.dat. It's there. Make sure you are searching for hidden files.
Rename it to extend.old
Restart Outlook.
