Hi guys

I would like to have the ability to "export" any of my reports as a Word
document such as having a "Save As" option etc.

Is there an easy way to do this in Access 2003?

Thanks

Tools menu--Office Links--Publish it With Microsoft Office Word.

Note, however, that this in fact creates an RTF file, which will not
necessarily appear as perfectly as you wish in Word. For best results, you
should keep the layout and formatting of your reports as simple as possible.

Another option, if you wish to send reports to people, is the Snapshot
format (File menu--Export--Save As Type--Snapshot). However, this really
sucks for many reasons. A much better idea is to use a cheapo PDF writer
such as CutePDF or Win2PDF to "print" your reports as PDF files.

Hi.

When previewing the report, try clicking on the "Tools" menu, then "Office
Links", then "Publish It with MS Word" (I use Access 2000, so your menus may
differ slightly).

If your report is complex this may not work to your satisfaction, but it
seems to work well for simple reports.

Hi Baz.

For outputting reports to .pdf, I've found nothing better than Stephen
Lebans' "ReportToPDF". It works wonderfully without the need for any kind of
separate PDF Writer. There is no messing about with changing printer drivers,
and it is completely free of charge.

You can find it here:

Thanks for the prompt replies!

When I run my application using the /runtime parameter, the "Tools" menu
item does not appear. All I have is "File", "Window" and "Help".

What have I forgotten to do?

Hi.

You may have a corresponding toolbar button. Look for a blue "W". However,
the button may also appear as a green "X" or a Notepad icon. If so, click
the little arrow to the right of the button to see the other options.

If you don't have this button on the toolbar, you may have to add your own
custom toolbar containing this button. Either that, or don't run Access with
that parameter, or output to PDF instead.

Thanks Michael,

I had a look around and managed to figure out how to add the "Tools" item to
the menu!

Thanks again
