I am running Windows XP and Office XP on my system. Before
reinstalling Windows I made a backup of all my folders in
Outlook (XP/2002). The encrypt data option was defaultly
selected so I though it was a good idea for data
protection. After I reinstalled the whole system I have
tried to import my backup of my Outlook - For the record
installed Win XP and Office XP. It came up with an error
(which unfortunately I cannot remeber now because I am
working on a different system). After various attmeps I
have figured out that you can not import any data into
another installation of Outlook?????? Is this true, and if
it is, is there a way to decrypt the data so that I can
import it into Outlook?????

Please Help.

What backup software did you use?

If you go to flie>Import and Export in Outlook.

In other words, I didn't use 3rd party software I used
outlook's one functions.

So why the "encryption" or does this just mean your pst had a password?

The best way to make a backup all Outlook data is simply to copy the pst to
another folder. Guaranteed to be able to open in another Outlook of the
same version. No export/import required.

So, what happens when you try to open the file (not Import - forget
importing unless it's from a disparate mail system) using FIle>Open>Outlook
Data File?
