Ihave downloaded crdexp.exe and the required vbrun300dll. Both are in My
Documents, but when I try and use crdexp.exe I'm told that vbrun300.dll can't
be found. I believe that it should be in Windows system directory, but I do
not know how to do this.

Correct. The %windir%\System folder to be more specific.
but I do not know how to do this.

Just drag this file into that folder, using the right mouse button.
Follow the context menu in order to move that file.

so I copied but could not paste. I am probably being really stupid here.
Could you help. Incidentally I couldn't find the context menu & I don't know
what this is.

Why couldn't you do that? Keep the right mouse button pressed in order
to drag the file and release the button in order to drop.

Well, when asking for help in a technical support group, some minimum
skills like being able to copy/move a file are required in order to
communicate. If you don't have these basic skills, you might be better
off when asking a friend or someone in your neighborhood to help out.

Right. That's because it's in the wrong place.

Right.

Open My Documents. Open My Computer, and navigate to C:\windows\system. Drag
the vbrun300.dll from My Documents to the C:\windows\system. using the
right mouse button. When you release the mouse button, you will be prompted
for what to do. Choose "Copy files here."

By the way, although you can use the exe file from within My Documents,
that's not really an appropriate place for executable programs. I would
either put it in a program folder of its one, or a folder of miscellaneous
executables that you could create for such files.

Please reply to the newsgroup

Thank you Detlev & Ken for your help. i understand Detlev's comments about basic abilities, but I am afraid I tried to drag vbrun300.dll to %windir%\sytem, but eventually put it in the first system file in %windir%\system. The main problem seemed to be that the vbrun300.dll was in a zip file . When I copied it from the zip file to the same folder as crdexp.exe everything seemed to work. I am puzzled that it did not appear to be necessary to put vbrun into the Windows system file. I hope this makes sense, and thanks again. Regards ,Alan

You're welcome. Glad to help.

It will work in either place. But the way you've done it, it will work only
with crdexp.exe, not with other programs that may need it. That's why it's
better to put it in \windows\system.
