When I travel, I want to transfer my outlook 2007 data to my laptop, which
uses outlook 2002. I'd appreciate specific instructions on how to do this.
There have been some other posts on this, but I don't see a concise
explanation on how the export process works.

Thanks

- create a 97-2002 PST file
- within Outlook 2007, drag-and-drop your 2007 data to the 97-2002 PST
file (better than export)

What is a 97-2002 PST file? I, too need to transfer my data from 2007 to 2002
Outlook, but need a more detailed procedure, please.
Thank you,

In Outlook, click File>New>Outlook Data File. Choose "Outlook 97-2002
Personal Folders File (.pst)". Click OK. Browse to the folder where you want
the file created or accept the default. Give the file a name or accept the
default (although I'd change the name). Click OK. Specify a display name (in
the Name field) or accept the default (although I'd choose a name that matched
the file name you chose in the prior step). Click OK. You now have an ANSI
format PST. Copy your folders, one at a time, from your main folder set to
the root of the newly-added PST. When you've finished copying all you want,
right-click the root of the added PST and choose Close. Close Outlook. You
can then copy that PST to a system using an earlier version of Outlook and it
should open just fine (File>Open>Outlook Data File).
