I have been trying to import a list of personal contacts from excel to
outlook but I am having problems. I am getting an error msg. that states
that I have to name the cells or map the cells that I want to import IE: I
want to import the:
First Name from Column A The Last name from column B and the email address
from column C

I would appreciate some help if possible.

You must give the contact data a range name.

Assuming you have data in Sheet1 A1:C100 and have a title row with Last, First
and email, select that range and Insert>Name>Define.

Give it a name like contactrange and save the workbook.

Try again to Import from Outlook.

You will get a dialog which allows you to drag the field names to the
appropriate spots on the fields in Outlook Contacts map.

Please bear with me as I am new to Excel. I am using Excel 2003 and Outlook
2003 I am having a problem bringing up the MAP CUSTOM FIELDS Dialog window
so I can map the fields I want to import to Outlook I am still getting the
error in Outlook that the information I want to import has to be named. or
given a range name. I don't know how to do this.
your patience is appreciated.

I was told that I could save the excel file as a text file (.cvs) and thenimport the file into outlook, I tried it and it seems to work that way.
