explorer windows will not close

I can not get the Internet Explorer windows to close. If I have more than one window open they freeze and won't close when you hit the x. If you hit ctrl.alt.del to end the task you click to end one but all of the windows close. Any ideas on how to fix this?
 
This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware, parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
