Explorer Window -- How to turn off treeview

I have a W2K workstation and everytime I double-click a
drive or dir, I get the treeview on the left of the
window. I can seem only to find settings for making a
single window show up or new window, but can not determine
how to just make it stop the treeview...
 
Open up a drive and click View from the top toolbar, Click
List Or small Icons, whatever way you want the files to
appear
 
also on the 'View' option, make sure 'Folders' isnt
checked underneath the 'Explorer Bar' option
