I installed AdAware Plus 6.0 on an XP Home computer today. Now, when I boot
up my computer, after everything gets loaded, there is a window on the
desktop. It is an "explorer" window that is open to C:/Program
Files/Lavasoft (the folder containing the Ad-Aware files). The Lavasoft
folder is in the right window. I have to close it manually.

It seems like I remember this happening once before with a Windows ME
computer but I can't remember what I did about it.

How can I stop this from occuring?

Thanks for any help.

I'm no expert but I once had a similar problem with an explorer window coming up that I always had to close manually. I think what I did was click on start, run, and in the dialog box type msconfig a window will pop up (system configuration utility) click on the start up tab and uncheck the undesired program, then on the general tab click selective start up. This may be a solution

Hi Morgan

Go to Start > Run > msconfig
go to the startup tab and see if there is an entry for explorer.exe,
if so, uncheck it, reboot and when the pop up appears, tick the lower
left side so it doesn't appear on every boot.

Also look for explorer exe in these folders and remove it:
C:\Documents and settings\All users\Start menu\Programs\startup
C:\Documents and settings\(Username)\Start menu\Programs\Start up

Good luck

Well, I found a small EXE file in the Lavasoft folder that, when run,
corrects this problem. It is caused by an incomplete uninstall of a previous
version. Actually, somebody else in a Lavasoft Forum found it and told me
about it.
