Explorer unable to view certain pages

I am having trouble with explorer viewing pages that
contain content such as the webpage for windows update. I
get a blank screen with "Done" at the bottom. I also am
unable to view any of the selections in the drop down
list for the Knowledge Base Support area. Any ideas?

Did you make any changes in your security settings or does/has anyone else
used your computer who could have made some/any changes? Tell us about the
circumstances just prior to when this started happening. Also tell us what
version of Windows you are using, if XP, did you update to SP2, what browser
version are you using? Too many details are better than not enough.
 
I am running windows xp and have not yet been able to
upgrade to service pack 2. I am unable to download it at
the moment. My roommmate possibly could have made changes
to the security settings. The only thing that I did
before this happened was update my subscription to Norton
Internet Security.
