Kate

My husband recently put in a new hard drive for our
computer. It is a 120GB. Ever since he's put it in, I
have a hard time pulling up anything in windows explorer.
I will either right click on start and then on
explorer . . or if I go to start and my computer. Either
way, once I click on my new drive to access a file, as
soon as I click the file I want, windows explorer shuts
down. This is very frustrating. Any ideas what is causing
this or how to stop it!?
Thank you!

Hi Kate,

I had a similar problem with a hard drive of mine that was about ready to
die. I would have you or your husband pull out the data cable (when the
computer's off, of course) to the new hard drive and push it back in firmly.
Turn the computer back on and if the behavior continues I would suggest
going to the website of the manufacturer of the affected harddrive and
downloading their diagnostic tool and performing the non-instrusive scans
that will not erase your data. If your hard drive is defective you should
be able to exchange it from where you purchased it or send it to the
manufacturer and get a replacement drive under the warranty.
