hi
can anyone help with a strange problem my system is having
at the moment..................

everytime i right-click on a folder thats on my desktop
(or a filoe within a folder), the hour glass stays on and
nothing more happens. sometimes i stop/restart
explorer.exe which keeps the windows session alive, but
sometimes even that doesn't help - just have to reboot.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated

many thanks
Steve

Check your startup settings to find out if a program running in the
background is causing this. Applications that start with Windows can
be found here:
- the WIN.INI, section [windows], entries "run=" and "load="
- the Registry keys
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices
- the folders
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\START MENU\PROGRAMS\STARTUP
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\{username}\START MENU\PROGRAMS\STARTUP
