Explorer.exe - Unable to Locate Component
- This application has failed to start because BROWSEUI.DLL was not
found.
Re-installing this application may fix this problem.
-------------------------------------------------------------
At first, this was what I got at the welcome screen and after that,
nothing
appeared except my background wallpaper.
So i decided to reinstall service pack II. After reinstalling, the
above
error message did not appear again, but nothing happened. It just loads
and
leaves the background and no start menu.
Using the task manager, I tried to run "explorer.exe". Nothing happens
when
i click OK.
What should i do?
Please help!!

It would be greatly appreciated
This issue sounds like it is directly related to SP2.
To resolve the issue, first uninstall SP2.
Follow the below instructions to uninstall SP2 from your System:
1. Boot from your Windows XP CD
2. Once the screen appears saying: "Press ENTER to Setup Windows, Press
R to Repair Windows", Press "R"
3. The "Recovery Console" will now load.
4. A screen will appear asking for you to select your Operating System,
Press "1" then press "Enter"
5. You will now be asked for your Administrator Password, if you are
unsure what it is, try leaving the field blank and pressing "ENTER", if
it asks you again, you will need to obtain your Administrator Password.
6. You will now see "C:\WINDOWS>"
7. Do the following:
] C:\WINDOWS>cd $ntservicepackuninstall$\spuninst
] C:\WINDOWS\$ntservicepackuninstall$\spuninst>batch spuninst.bat
8. You will now see a bunch of "Access Denied" and "1 File Copied"
Messages on the screen -> This is normal.
] C:\WINDOWS\$ntservicepackuninstall$\spuninst>exit
9. Tap "F8" on bootup (Before Windows is Loading screen)
10. Select "Safe Mode" and press "ENTER" at the Boot Menu
11. Click "Start" then click "Control Panel" and select "Add or Remove
Programs"
12. Locate "Windows XP Service Pack 2" and click Remove
The computer should now work if the problem is directly related to SP2
Once in Windows -> click "Start" then "Run" and type in
"regsvr32 browseui.dll" and click "OK"
