We are having issues with explorer randomly (appears to
be, at least) crashing. Event viewer has "The shell
stopped unexpectedly and Explorer.exe was restarted." with
event ID 1002 and source winlogon.
This coupled with an event ID 1000 source application
error with a message of: "Faulting application
explorer.exe, version 6.0.2800.1221, faulting module
comctl32.dll, version 6.0.2800.1106, fault address
0x00055769."
The crash happens every half minute or so. Logging
off/rebooting always fixes it for the short term.
Sometimes it goes away by just closing programs.
These are business PCs with standard images so we can rule
out the spyware/virus/corporate productivity suites like
kazaa.
