Explorer.exe and Scvhost.exe High RAM Usage

i do not know when this started to happen. i know my way
around a computer very well but, for the past month now
ive been having lots of problems, some of them have been
task manager displaying explorer.exe aim.exe svchost.exe
VM size and memory at HUGE amounts. i know this is
completly wrong. my main problem is explorer.exe
but overall all the programs on taskbar are over the
average!!!... my cuzins computer had lots of adware +
virus still probely does.. but he has his memory useage
very low..

Fully Updated Winxp Patches from microsoft
Norton + Pc-cillin fully updated and scanned!!
Hijack this S&DSpybot Ad-aware Pespatrol CWSshredder -
updated and scanned cleaned ect...

there is also times where ONLY explorer.exe goes back
down to 8mb the default... BUT VM usgage still the same
100+

please someone have a look at this
