I keep getting an error box, which says

Explorer caused an error in 5151545853.TMP
Explore will now close.

When I click on the error box to close, my whole screen
goes blank.

I then have to restart my computer.

I downloaded the newest version of explorer, but it don't
help.
Any suggestions on how to correct my problem?

Thanks,

Gary Wilcox

Gary,
This is probably being caused by a browser parasite.
From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions."

That should allow you to use IE.
You should re-enable browser extensions after you finish the cleanup.

Run CWShredder from http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html
CWShredder is only about 125 KB so it could be downloaded
from another machine onto a floppy disk.

You may be able to download files and access sites from the address bar of
Windows Explorer.

You should follow up CWShredder with Ad-aware and Spybot S&D. Both programs
should be updated after installation- before use.
See: Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
Also note security tips at that site.

Post back if this doesn't help.

Regards,
Don
