If there's a Help file for Exifer could someone point me to it please?

Meanwhile, what are the rules for when a line is coloured red please?
What is the intended procedure for such entries?

Embarrassed to remember after posting that I asked this about 15
months ago, when I was first introduced to Exifer. Anthony Giorgianni
answered it. It's apparently when entries have been selected, e.g. via
the Edit menu. What I'm still not sure of is how to de-select these? I
see no 'Select None' menu item. It also seems at odds with the
familiar method of selecting using Ctrl+click and Shift+click?

Have now discovered (with difficulty) that the reason above was
incorrect. Lines are red when the metadata differs from its saved
backup.

Still looking for some feedback on this please.

At this page
http://www.exifer.friedemann.info/main_2.htm
it says
"Main window - List mode
Some lines are marked red because the metadata differs from its saved
backups."

But why should there be any difference when all I have done is used
Backup on a newly opened test folder of 3 images? All 3 entries are
now red.

There's a possible clue when I examine the 3 EXI backup files in my
text editor. Although these are binary files, there are 4 recognisable
text elements in each of them. The last 3 of these match the 2 IPTC
entries I made (Description and Special Instructions) plus the JPG
Comment, but the first string is 'Photoshop 3.0', which seems
unrelated to my files. (I don't even have that program.)
