Executables

I have an executable that I believe is creating my problem. It seems to have downloaded and installed itself but when I uninstall it it takes a load of Dll's with it and renders other programs useless. My specific problem is that I set a homepage, and when I restart and open IE some other homepage search engine is there. I can't seem to get rid of this problem. I'm on a DSL with a firewall, virus program and spyware program but it seems as though I'm getting a lot of unwanted downloads and viruses quite often. Some items download when I'm not even on my computer. Today I'm virus free but how can I get rid of these executables safely? The main one I have is called "submit2.exe" anyone else have that?

I was curious about this and did a Google search for this file - the results
were a little confusing. In one instance, it refers to "TROJ_IEFEATS.A" - a
Trojan, and then it refers to spyware/malware etc based on the addition of
the "submit2.exe" file. If you're a patient person, you may be able to
remove all the DLL's and registry entries, and then remove the associated
executable. FWIW, I would (especially after reading some of the changes it
may/may not be making) re-install my O/S - to know that it's gone. This may
seem a little drastic, but for your own info, do a Google search - key words
"removal submit2.exe". You will probably agree. Best of Luck to you....M

I did find the information you guys provided useful, however, I had so many different .EXE's on my system that I just reinstalled windows. That was easiest and most likely less time consuming. Thanks for the help!!!
