I am making a group policy in which I want to shut all
applications off except adobe reader. In order to do this
I must basically lock down the computer. I read the
article about applying policies only to users and not
administrators. In order to do that I must be able to get
back into gpedit after locking the computer down. Is
there an .exe file for mmc and gpedit??? I can only get
the programs to run if I have an executable and I can't
find one for mmc or gpedit? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

I found what I needed. It was mmc.exe all along. i had
just mispelled in the command. thanks

d,

MMC is an exe it lives in the System32 directory.

i.e. C:\windows\system32\mmc.exe

The Group Policy snap-in is not a exe its a MSC extention

i.e. grpedit.msc.

So you could try allowing MMC.exe and then seeing if it
will let you load the Group Policy snap in.

Hope this helps

In addition to the executable for Adobe, make sure you allow access to MMC.EXE as well, otherwise, you may find that you can't get back into undo anything if you find that you've restricted the systemt too much.
