Excluding folders in a Search

I would like to locate all my files which have a 'tcw' extension (for
example) so I can relocate any that have strayed (due to sloppy OP), so I
can in turn move the strays back to where they belong. When I do a Search
on *.tcw, I get them all (and I have a lot of them), but it turns out many
are in folders that really aren't of interest, for example 'Recent,' and/or
those which are already in the right folder.

Is there any way I can do a Search which will, for example, return all 'tcw'
files that are NOT in the Recent folder?

BTW, is it OK if I capitalize NOT as in this case? I'm really not yelling
:-)
Thanks much

Dave

dunno what a .tcw is, but surely you must have an approximate idea where
these are likely to end up (prolly the same folder every time) - so try not
searching so widely

you can also narrow the search even further by using date(s)

It's a cad file, immaterial. The question is - is there a way to exclude a
specific folder when doing a search?

Hmmm.

Step into the folder at a command prompt. Enter:
REN *.tcw *.wct

then do the search. When done, rename the files back to their original
extensions.

Open the Computer Management console from the Administrative Tools folder. Take a look at the
Indexing Service & the option to create a new catalog. You can create a custom catalog to exclude
any directories you want.

Detailed instructions are in the Help files.
