One of our Access databases grows very quickly in size.
In just 1 week it will grow from 50Meg to 100Meg yet after
we run the utility to compact it the size shrinks back
down to just a bit more than it was last week. Is there
something that we can look at (i.e. default block size for
each table extent) in Access 2000? If not does anyone
have any suggestions on how we can address this issue
(other than upgrading to SQL Server). We really don't
want to run the compact utility each week.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Well, some folks don't like to change the oil in their car every 5000
miles either... but both are necessary for reliable performance!

In A2000 you can set the database to Compact On Close; or you can set
up Windows Scheduler to compact the database weekly, sometime when
everyone's going to be logged off.

See Tony Toews' website http://www.granite.ab.ca/accsmstr.htm for some
suggestions about performance and bloat.
